There are a lot of changes v0.04:
Issues. Theses are major storyline events that occur more or less sequentially. The game is still a sandbox, but Issues are a string of breadcrumbs leading through it, should you pursue the main storyline. Other events are the same sort of free floating scenes uncovered through patrolling or whatever.
Skill system has changed. Instead of training, each Issue unlocks skill points, which you can spend training. If you train without skill points you won’t improve, but may (in the future) encounter storylines.
Damage and healing. Part of the new combat system. Your adventures may result in injuries or other status ailments, and these are recovered when the Issue ends.
Timekeeping is different. Now days don’t just pass, you have different time periods through the day. Some will be spent working during the week, of course. You aren’t forced to sleep until you literally pass out, but staying up too late can result in fatigue and exhaustion.
UI. Big overhaul. See the character details/date HUD, and a new character creation screen.
Those are the big ones. The origin is now Issue 1 and has seen some changes, and Issue 2 has been introduced.
In Power Corrupts you play a newly manifested superhuman in a morally gray world where what you can take is limited only by your grasp, as long as you can take the consequences.
Ultimately the player\’s path is their own, hero or villain, famous or infamous.
Power Corrupts is not a linear story, but rather a sandbox in which the player can discover many plot hooks, some obvious, some hidden, and some which need to be unlocked. These plot hooks lead from the career sim to visual novel sequences whose consequences develop your character, improve or degrade relationships, and may help or harm your reputation.
There was a bit of a problem where, thanks to a quirk in how python and ren’py works, events would stop triggering after saving and loading.
