The story takes place in Nocturne, a magical city where the ancient art of Alchemy has long been forgotten.

Louis Grayburn, eldest son of the prestigious Grayburn family, enrolls in the First Royal Imperial Academy of Magic as heir to one of the Five Great Noble Houses.

However, during the entrance ceremony, he discovers that he possesses no magical power at all.

Once admired for his noble lineage, Louis instantly becomes the academy's laughingstock, ridiculed by both classmates and teachers.

One day, while wandering the academy library, he discovers the hidden Inranna Library and meets a mysterious naked fairy who grants him the forbidden power of Alchemy.
