It's a love story between Suzi and John. Both run away from different things and tend to be outsiders. The rebellious Suzi has just come of age and suffers from her domineering mother's control mania. John, on the other hand, was Suzi's father Jakob's best friend as a child. When John's parents died in a house fire, he was adopted by Jakob's family at the age of eight. But John was never able to identify with this new family and disappeared when he finished school. Now 10 years have passed and Jacob has died. John is asked by Suzi's mother, Cora, to come over because he has inherited something. However, Cora and her lover, Buck, try to betray John. Suzi finds out about this and decides to help John. And even if the relationship between the two is rather difficult at first, they grow closer and closer over time...
