Izumo Hiroki, is a university student who is tired of living in the city. He returns home to the countryside during the summer holidays. His parents have left the countryside and only his grandmother remains at home.
Incidentally, Hiroki’s presence always seems to bring rain. Today, too, the skies were overcast from the moment he got off the train. He headed for his parents’ house as fast as he could and barely evaded the evening showers. When he returned home, he met his soaking wet childhood friend, Inaba Usaki.
“Welcome back, Hiroki! You can’t imagine how much I miss you!”
For one summer, the two are under one roof.
The companionship of a bright and lively childhood friend inspires affection in Hiroki’s heart. And the fondness turns into love…
Koiyasumi is a short 2-3 hour game that I picked up since I wanted something different to work on while chipping away at the main project. At just under 4000 lines, it’s almost as long as the average character route from a typical medium-length VN like Houkago Cinderella. Since the story is very self-contained with only thee characters and it being a low-cost kinetic novel, there really wasn’t anything too difficult on the translation side. Although the low number of CGs for various scenes did meant I had to interpret what the author wanted to describe or say in regards to the character’s surroundings. Since I don’t play the game as I translate, there were probably some bits in my translation that caused the editor to want to rip his hairs out. Despite so, I am very happy with the quality of our translation considering that it was mostly me and the editor working on it. I want to give a big thanks to Goyong who edited the game with no prior experience in editing visual novels before.
