By Another Name is an adult visual novel that asks the question "What if, only weeks before the start of my first year of college at an elite private school, my dad dies unexpectedly and leaves behind a mystery for me to solve that forces me to question who exactly the man I was raised by really is...?"

What's that? That question is way too long and specific and no one has been asking it? WELL MAYBE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

Explore the campus of Trinity College as you acclimate to daily life as a first year soccer player. Forge bonds with your teammates, your classmates, heck - maybe even your teachers - and work together to take your soccer team all the way to the top!

Play the Way You Want to Play
Choose your character model at the start of the game and enjoy an experience tailored towards your playstyle! You can choose to play as a female character, a male character, or a non-binary character, and starting in version 0.04, you'll be able to choose your character's genitals separately from their pronouns if you play as a non-binary character.

Make Decisions That Will Change Your Relationships With Others
There are no wrong choices, but there are also no choices without consequences. Choose carefully and sleep (potentially with others) in the bed you make!

Keep in mind, all characters either currently are or eventually will be romanceable. That being said, not everyone you meet is going to want to sleep with you immediately. Not in real life and not in By Another Name. This is a game created for people who enjoy visual novels with a focus on character/relationship building and narrative, with sex used as a means of storytelling and organically advancing relationships between characters.

...so you're not gonna get to fuck a ton of people right off the bat. If that's what you're looking for, there are games way better tailored to suit your needs :)

Characters

Aarya Mars
A psychology major following in the footsteps of her father, Aarya is a good listener and an even better friend. She wants to help others, even to the point of overstepping at times, but her heart is always in the right place.



Abigail Amythal
A Kinesiology major with a mecha collection in her dorm room. Need I say more? Abigial is the badass whose dry humor will you through tough times. She's the kind of person we all sort of wish we could be more like. In other words, cool AF



Caitlin Reed
Caitlin is an English major who loves spending time reading out on the quad under her favorite oak tree. A woman of many interests, she finds herself enamored with a million different hobbies at any given time.



Charlie Prudames
The captain of the first year soccer team, Charlie is that girl from your high school that you wanted to hate for being so damn perfect, but they're so kind and selfless that you can't help but love them. A communications major, Charlie isn't sure what she wants to do in life, but whatever it is, she knows she wants to help people.


Claire Finn
Claire is an English major who takes the "librarian in a cardigan" stereotype to heart. She also happens to be Harper's twin sister (she's older, but she doesn't want to brag about it or anything). Compassionate, shy, and witty, Claire is the kind of friend who will stay by your side until the very end.



Coach Daisy
Coach Daisy, the head of the first year soccer team, takes her role very seriously. She cares for her team and wants to do everything she can to prepare them to move up onto the varsity squad, should they choose to try out.



Gabi Arcanos
Gabriella Arcanos, first of her name (her words), is the pride of the Arcanos family and won't let you forget it. I mean, do you even know who her dad is? Aggressive, ambitious, and articulate, Gabi really isn't someone you want to cross.



Harper Finn
The superior of the Finn Twins (in her words and only her words), Harper is a Studio Art and Biology double major who prides herself on her ability to be everywhere, all at once, doing everything anyone needs her to do. Competitive, stubborn, and fiercely passionate, Harper is always going to be in your corner.



Leah Bartlett
The Ice Princess herself, Leah is an Engineering major who isn't really one for small talk. Her wry wit will keep you sane in even the most boring of lectures, while her willingness to cut through the BS in everyday conversation will keep you sane...well, everywhere else.



Lizzie Mayweather
Lizzie is a Computer Engineering major who prefers to keep to herself. Though a deeply private person, she may show glimmers of her truer self to those who are willing to be patient.



Mariah Martinez
Mariah could sell sand to camel in the desert. A sweet talker, a tease, and an absolute flirt, she likes what she likes and she gets what she wants. Mariah is unsure of what she wants to do with her life, but knows that taking it one day at a time is the best way of finding out.



May Cullen
The child of a pastor, May grew up a bit more sheltered than most kids. She's quick to make friends with everyone, but often feels she has to keep parts of herself hidden from most people. She's deeply loyal to her partner, Adam, and is hoping to one day marry him.



Morgan Cross
Computer Science major and winner of a local "most adorable human being" award (this is a joke, please don't ask for this to be made canon), Morgan is a puzzle-loving, cozy-blanket-hogging gem of a human being.



Olivia Barrington
A biochemical engineering major who is smarter than any of us could ever hope to be, Olivia is one of the only friends you make who isn't already on your soccer team when you start school. Curious, laser-focused, and irrevocably shy, Olivia is the only hope you have of making it through Chemistry class...seriously.
