An interview with the author on affect3d
Our June Artist of the Month, Smerinka has had a busy few months here on Affect3D! April, May, and even yesterday all saw new store releases from her and July and August will only offer more! Bringing dominant Futanari women to life in her fun and sensual comics, Smerinka has never failed to bring artistic excellence and excitement to her work. In all this excitement, we thought we’d ask her a few questions to get a look inside the mind of this wonderful 3DX artist and find out a little bit of what might be in store for us.
1. Smerinka is an interesting name. Where did your name come from and what does it mean?
Smerinka is a misspelled type of apple. The correct name is “Simirenko” but in Ukrainian it sounds like “smerinka” It’s my favorite type of apples and it’s just sounds nice.
2. I love all the different places your girls come from. I can see that you’ve drawn inspiration from both pop culture and the world around you. What inspires you to create new characters and their adventures?
I spent three months in Georgia. Aunt Nino was created under the inspiration of Georgian women. It came in Tbilisi, walking around the city, staring at the beautiful girls, as usual, and I said to myself, “I should made a Georgian woman with a dick. I should make a Nino!” Nino is the one of most popular female names in Georgia.
3. Let’s talk a little about the Womantaur. It’s something I’ve never seen before and I have to say I’d like to see a lot more from her (them?). What inspired her? Are you interested in working her into your future work?
Humantaur was not my original idea. It was a commission from my dearest friend, FastMax. That kind of character still seems a little crazy, but we all love crazy things, don’t we? And Alisa, as Womantaur, looks so extremely sexy and attractive, she is ahead of her time and this is exactly what I love in my work. I wanna create something extraordinary, something on the verge of the imagination. Of course I’m interested in working Womantaur into my future work. Still not sure about a comic story, and I’m open for suggestions from the community.
4. Tell us about your favorite character and why she’s so special to you. What’s her background and what motivates her? What’s the next project that she’s in?
Well, I suppose my favorite character at this time is Aunt Nino. She has some temper and individuality. As I already said she is from Georgia, and she likes to travel around the world. Most of all she likes to dominate. So you better be a nice girl with her, even if you are a boy! She already has one comic book and soon there should be one more. Also, I want to create series of loop animation with her or maybe even a short movie. But I need to invest in some hardware for it.
I spend more time creating Alisa, Nino, Sashka and Mishka. They are my favorite girls, of course. Alisa and Nino already have their own comic book and back stories. I plan making many more stories about these girls. Sashka and Mishka are futa twins, so we will have double pleasure with them! They are just preparing for their debut. You will see them in next month in the second part of “No Limits“.
5.What was your hardest set or commission to work on? What made that difficult for you?
One of the hardest parts of a work is finishing at the appointed time and keeping a high quality of art. My first comic “Mad Mix”, I was working on for almost a year! I knew nothing about the creation of comic books, page-proofs, or composition. I’m learning and making a product at the same time. It was extremely interesting and hard work. The second hard part is my bad English. I still can’t express everything I want in replicas and text, but I’m working on it.
6. How did you start creating 3DX art? How long have you been doing this and what was your introduction into the genre like?
I have been doing 3DX art for two years now. Everything started from my interest in the porn game named “Jack-o-nine-tails”. I liked it so much that I decided to created my own porn game. First of all, I needed content like pictures or animations, so I decided to spend some time studying 3D art. It took a bit more time then I was planning. At one moment I carried away by doing only art, and here we are, two years after. I still plan to create this game one day. Probably, I’ll start into it this year.
7. I’ve noticed that you have a balance on your Tumblr between animation and pictures. Do you prefer to work on animation or still sets? Which do you personally like more?
I like animation much more, for movement is a main part of sex. I’m trying to show movement in my comic and I plan to make a lot of animation in a future.
8. What programs are your main programs for 3DX creation? I saw on your Patreon that you want OctaneRender 2. What will that mean for your art? Are you close to your goal?
My main program is Daz3d. I guess it’s pretty standard for 3DX. It’s free and easy to start. Although it was almost impossible to achieve a decent result without ZBrush and Octane Render. Also I have student license for 3DS Max and I’m trying to spare some time in studying it.
As for Octane Render, I want to buy OctaneRender 3 (it was released not so long ago) and the Daz plugin for it. It should give nice boost to my work pipeline and also should improve quality of my renders. Now, I’m modeling scenes in Daz, export it to Octane and tune the scene there. With the plugin all work will be inside Daz and it should take much less time.
9. Do you have any advice for aspiring artists?
Don’t be afraid of showing your work to the community. It’s such a happy feeling when you find your first fan. And don’t settle for less in your work, try harder until you get a really satisfying result.
10. Do you have any new projects we should be looking out for?
Now I’m working on second part of “No Limits” and a second part to “Roman Holiday“. You will see it in July and August.
11. Any last words for your fans here on Affect3D?
