For decades, The Spare Change Casino has operated out of a small town in Washington state. The draw wasn’t just the gambling, but the extremely low prices for shows, food, and drinks. The owner, who was well into his 80’s, found running the casino was become too difficult. After attempting to sell it for a year, he found prospective buyers wanted to immediately raise the prices and turn it into a quote, “real casino.” When the man found out, he would back out of the sale. It was important to him to keep the casino affordable for the small town he, and it, resided in. When all hope seemed lost, a woman walked into the casino. Unlike others, she seemed genuine in keeping the casino running in a similar fashion. In fact, she promised to keep him on as an advisor. As he looked over the proposal, a few paragraphs perplexed him, but at that point in his life, it wasn’t too difficult to get confused. The woman simply smiled and promised she would keep the spirit of the casino alive. There was something about her that made him feel at ease, so he signed the paper. The casino closed for a few days during the transfer of ownership. When it reopened, the promotional image took people by surprise. The people were disfigured beyond belief. At the same time though, there were more than a few people curious about what the casino offered now.
